Before building an offshore wind farm, many studies are done to examine the seabed and soil conditions on the site. During the installation process, survey vessels are used to constantly check that the work does not harm the environment. After the wind turbines are built and while they are operating, inspections are also carried out underwater to check the turbines and the surrounding area. These tasks are done by survey ships equipped with special tools, such as measuring systems, sonar and multibeam devices, workstations, fishing gear, cranes, and quick winches. Sometimes, these ships have a dynamic positioning (DP) system that helps them stay safely close to offshore structures during work.
