ACCOMMODATION VESSEL

ACCOMMODATION VESSEL FOR HOUSING OFFSHORE WORKERS AT SEA

An Accommodation vessel (also called a floating hotel or floatel) is used to house workers at sea during the construction or maintenance of offshore structures or wind farms. These ships stay close to the work site to reduce travel time and give workers more time to work. They have special landing platforms, usually at the middle or back of the ship, where workers can board crew transfer boats that take them to the structures. There is also a helicopter deck for moving people and spare parts quickly. Often, these ships also act as offices or control centers at sea, with communication and meeting rooms. They have many cabins for workers and storage space for spare parts, as well as workshops for repairs.
